I don't know what relevance that has (if any) but I thought it was a good message.

I do on occasion but I don't let others affect my self esteem.I find it funny when I'm in a club and there are girls dancing with guys they came with and then one comes up and starts dancing with me and gets her girl to come over, like they're doing it out of pity. If I want to dance; I dance. I'm pretty good at it. But honestly not the best at the new fangled grind dancing; especially when a chic really doesn't know how to dance or is dancing to a different beat.

I compare myself to others on a fairly constant basis, it's starting to get a TINY bit better--but I still have a long way to go.

It was/is so bad that I'll even compare how people treat me as opposed to how they treat others, and if I feel like the other person is being treating in a more loving/liked manner I get upset about it. Which just ends up in hurt/annoyed feelings all around.

I'm also constantly (usually) worried about why people like me, want to be my friend, etc. so I'm constantly thinking/saying "but I don't do that, and you like that person that does that, etc".

It's caused many, many issues in the past and it's something that I'm legitimately trying to work on.

I have never compared myself to anyone else..

I don't see the point. If no two of us are really the same yet many of us share similar experiences what's the difference. I mean two people could equal one person in certain experiences in one aspect of life yet of of those two paired with another could match another part.

The variable are endless. Extend that to the body and one could say one has the perfect one yet they are never happy with what they have..

And no I don't only look at a woman because she's pretty.. That reminds me of high school.. It takes much more than that to impress me.

I sometimes compare myself to my uncle, who was unusually successful when it came to a career. He actually worked in upper management at American Express. He also went to top colleges beforehand.

On the other hand, I just been working average jobs in my life.

From Desiderata:

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Indeed.

When I was studying in high school, I always compared myself with a boy in the same class. He was a smart boy, good at academics and sports. As I grow older, I seldom compare myself with others. Everyone has his/her strengths and weaknesses.

…no..I celebrate who I am and that no one can be me, only me…and it’s taken me a long time to get to this, to being completely happy and at ease with who I am in every way …I can be and am inspired by others, often…but I don’t compare to them and neither would I want to…

Lmao!!! Omg this thread fits my dilemma tonight. Hahahaha

So!! We bought a hot tub while in Florida this last February. We set it up about 2 weeks ago and have been enjoying it. However, getting in and out of a wet bathingsuit is well, yucky. It got me contemplating buying a bikini again, so off i went, tonight, on amazon looking at bikinis. But in the back of my mind I'm thinking ,'you are seriously too fat, old and everything else, to be wearing one of those.'lol. Then!!!! I looked at the reviews to see how right i was.... nope! Totally wrong. I'm going to wear the shit out of that hot pink bikini when it gets here because i compared myself to the women who were kind and brave enough to show who is wearing them. Body dismorphia can sod off!! Lol

@Mystic ….yeah, when we think about that hot pink bikini, we tend to fit a body into it and that body that we tend to fit into is flawless because it’s just something imagined by us or we’re dazzled by a photoshopped picture etc…the reality is that the bodies inside those hot pink bikinis are all different shades of beautiful, which is exactly what makes the bikini rock and look fabulous…here to your hot tub bikini days…🩷

I never compare myself to others because there are individual differences and we have different talents and skills. I can play bass guitar and play and sing slow rock music others don't.
