I know we have some RTS fans here, because I've seen dt3 talking about C&C :D

Do any of you have Company of Heroes? I would love to get online for some friendly multi-player with someone. I hate going online for random games because everyone is all about rush, rush, rush, and I prefer more strategic games that actually require more thinking and less micro :p

Anyways, if you don't have it, get it. It's an absolutely amazing RTS. I rate it a 10/10 across the board. Many review sites rated as high. It won several PC game of the year awards. The graphics are gorgeous, top notch stuff. The game player is great and produces a really authentic WW2 RTS experience.

I'd have to run them both as low as possible, and I really hate doing that...

Hehe, your call, but I am telling you that CoH is an absolutely amazing game.

I'll second everything Tegan said up there about CoH. Buy it. Play it. Love it. :D

Don't let it crap you out when you first get online though. People are starting to get pretty darn good at this game. Also, there is a laundry list of .... 'dirty tricks' in each map that you'll lose to until you start to figure them out.

The only thing killing the game is the lack of a random map generator.

Rumor is, there's an expansion coming out soon too. :D

It's not really an expansion, so much as stand alone continuation. It's called Opposing Fronts and deals with the British 2nd Army and the German First Panzer. The British are supposed to be a very defensive army, moving slowly forward to take out strategic points. The First Panzer is a blitz army, extremely fast moving, fast building. Contrasts the original game a little where the US was sort of a jack of all trades army, and the German combined army was slower and more methodical with big bang guns (like Tiger tanks).

As for when CoH came out, I want to say May or June of last year? It's been about a year. Still widely considered the best RTS out there, better than the new C&C and much better than Supreme Commander.

If you haven't already, you should also pick up Relic's Dawn of War series, based on Warhammer 40K. It's hands down the best 40K game to date, and it's a great RTS. You will see where a lot of the systems for CoH came from, as they were adapted from Dawn of War. I think you can get a Dawn of War pack with the original game and all the expansions no for under 40 bucks. It's a bit dated, but a damn fine RTS in it's own right. Relic is coming out with really strong strategy products. I can't wait to see what they do as encore to CoH (and I don't mean Opposing Fronts, I mean a new series, or a true sequel to CoH).

Speaking of Relic classics, if you haven't played Homeworld and Homeworld 2, you are missing out. They are really great games. They can be a little hard to control at first, because of the true 3D battle field, but once you get used to it, they are really deep strategy games.

Yeah, Homeworld lost me in the first 20 minutes or so. I never gave the second one a shot because the first one came across as trying too hard to be complex.

They didn't get the UI quite right if memory serves. I do remember likeing the graphics though. :thumb

What's your user name? We'll link up one of these days.

Who do you play for? I'm an American player personally. The advantage goes back and forth with every patch, but I find I always have more fun with rifle squads and Crocs than I do with Volks and Tigers. :muscles:

.... .... Damn Tigers.... lol
