I worked really hard on not having an accent though, I hated people calling me a Newfie when I lived in TO, not that there's anything wrong with Newfies but they thought anything east was all Newfoundland and it bugged me.

Oh I wasn't hating trust me.. Islander accent is similar too.. ... When I lived home full time I never had one cept on a very few words.. When I got home I kinda took on my mom's accent and she has a strong assed one.. My dad did too.

When I first moved to Cape Breton I entered grade 5..I was sooooo shy. A few kids would always bug me to "talk Boston", I got to a point that I wouldn't talk at all...until about grade 7 and I came out of my shell, lol, I bet lots wish I was still in it!
