The vast majority of people still have stuff. As long as they have stuff, they have something to lose. People generally don't revolt en masse until they have nothing to lose.
this plus revolting means going outside and I might miss jeopardy

Hopefully the masses will realise the current government is trying to sort out the mess the last lot caused and the tax is neccessary if we want to pull out of the slump

ok peter, thats a valid point.....but will these taxes disappear when we're out of this recession?.....from experience i'd say no

but when you are out of recession and folks are working they wont be pissed off, so might not challenge higher taxation, in my experience govts never let go of revenue

you sound like a republican:D

i'm just me thats seen it all before, spiralling taxes that are put in place to get the country out of trouble, only the taxes are there for good.....people with no intention of working moaning like hell because they have to work and pay they're own way in life instead of sponging off the rest of us....and teenage mums knocking kids out like they're going out of fashion because they get an easy life out of it

. . . freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose . . .
Nothing don't mean nothing honey if it ain't free, now now.
And feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues,
You know feeling good was good enough for me,
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.;)

The entire world is going to pot in front of our eyes. If things get to how they were in the 20s, expect the gov't to start raiding people's homes for valuables.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A young Michigan woman has been charged with assaulting a member of Congress for throwing an apple pie at U.S. Sen. Carl Levin.
An indictment handed up Thursday by a federal grand jury also charged Ahlam Mohsen, 23, of Coldwater with assaulting a federal officer, The Grand Rapids Press reported. Max Kantar, 23, who was with Mohsen during the incident Aug. 16 in a Big Rapids, Mich., restaurant, faces the same charges.
Levin, D-Mich., chairman of the Armed Services Committee, was meeting constituents when he was hit with the pie. The indictment says Mohsen and Kantar assaulted a federal officer while he was carrying out official duties.
