If it was 'favour' why did God allow his only Son to be crucified on a cross?
Don't get me started on that.

Very true. A couple years ago a reporter interviewed a woman who survived a car pile up on the freeway. Something like 20 people including children were killed. She thanked God for his protection and told how she had prayed for protection that morning and God had answered. First of all, if God really answered then why didn't he keep her out of the accident in the first place? Second, I was offended by her callousness. She implied that the others deserved to die because they didn't pray that morning. It was a time to express sympathy to all those who suffered due to the great tragedy, not pat your God on the back.
Sorry I have to disagree with you on that, no where did she implied that the others deserved it, just misconstruing religion....again
So what are you suggesting here, that what the majority does is always right?
So someone can't rejoice in their belief that God saved them? It is not for me or anyone to tell anyone how to behave in situations like this, I am sure that the person was in sorrow for such terrible loss, but it is not for us to tell her or anyone not to say what she believed in
Looks like you took this thread to heart and put girl from the Digambar sect in your signature. Too but her arm is in the way.
lol Sadie doesn't need an excuse to show some nudity. And her arm is right where she wants it to be.
No, I'm suggesting that organized religions have lost the majority. Why would that be? The majority could be wrong.
I can only speak for myself when I say that I have no idea who the majority is and I dont' much care. I am an individual, like yourself, I believe what I believe......and I have my reasons.
And I'm happy for you, hold nothing against you, nor am looking down upon you.
Anytime I'm in a discussion about religion I'll be asking what is the basis of belief? While I try to avoid using the word "believe" I know how I'd like it to be, but am non-committal on the subject because I am unable to draw any specific conclusions based on the facts as I see them. What's left is faith of some kind and faith only becomes suspicious to me when it gets real specific as in "this is the word of God, here are the rules 1,2,3." That is how I approach it. I don't expect everyone to agree with me and it makes for lively conversations.
Ya know, it is believed that those of us God takes home with him early, are considered the 'divinely favored'....just saying.
and yet nobody wants to go and meet God as early as possible!!
I think it's not only the sad thought of leaving behind our loved ones, but also, the fear of the unknown.
I've heard a science buff explain the reason why in a plane crash 99 people perish while only one is rescued alive. His answer was quite interesting, viz, that the luckier one survived because he,instinctively or somehow, 'observed' the laws of Nature set by God whereas others did not. Sounds logical, no??
I have no idea, did the other 99 passengers cushion his fall?
No joke, haven't you experienced a glass breaks when it falls off you hands but sometimes it doesn't?? Why?? Because in the later instant the glass incidentally fell according to Laws of Nature set by God Himself!!
That being said........one can take that glass ball and using the will that God gave him, he could forcefully throw it to the ground, breaking it into millions of pieces. That's MY point......we all have our own will and nobody, not even God has any control over that.
if you smashed the ball as you said that would amount to non-conformity of the laws of Nature and the Will
of God to which our will is subject to, hence it will break, needless to mention the role of ''fate' which would again involve another argument not palatable to the scientific mind!
I'm referring to the free will that God has bestowed upon us so graciously. The same will that makes human beings decide to rape and murder....the same rape and murder that is then blamed on God because He didn't stop it from happening....therefor....our will is not His will but our own and we're responsible for it.
Oh, I see. so there is the Will of God and the puny will he gave us humans!
I think if we humans do not use our 'will' according to the laws of nature it's then that ''evil'' happens.
for example, a person will be definitely get killed if he sat on the free way out of his own free will. I guess God
did not tell us humans to use our free will in such bad manner and if we did we are surely responsible for our own actions!
Exactly!
