Atheism is more popular in every other country besides America. Now I'm not one to say we as Americans are stupid, but I cant argue with statistics.

The point is that this statement is selective. Therefore, you have no more reason to attack Christians than any other group other than the idea you have some personal grudge or negative history with the concept.

Actually I believe all religions are false, but the topic at hand is about Christians so was my statement, hence the title of the thread.
Religion can teach more people to hate instead of being understanding.

In that case...

It makes me mad alot of theists intentionally ignore logical ideas once presented yet attack other theists of other religions and tell them they're "lost and misguided". I've told theists before that badgering people will actually draw people away from religion even if they happen to agree with it.

Has anyone else noticed that since they stopped killing atheists church attendance is at an all time low & still dropping. Funny how people lose interest in something when they are free to make their own choices & are no longer scared.

OR, it could be the fact that we're no longer allowed to talk about God in public. He's been taken out of school, out of our courtrooms, off of our TV and radio broadcasts, out of our libraries, etc... How is it any wonder that faith is starting to weaken in America. It's practically illegal!! :yuk
I accept that the quote was about false idols & icons but I do have another observation, if no one knows what Jesus looked like, then surely any representation of him is false.
I'm not sure how this is an argument against Christianity... ?? Any representation of Christ in the church is understood to be symbolic.

That's a very interesting observation from a person with your belief system. America is indeed a majority Christian country. Less so now than at our founding, but still undeniable. This young, Christian country is the most prosperous, powerful country the world has ever known. IMO, this is a testament to Christianity. God has clearly shed His grace on us, and the further we move away from that basic Christian foundation, the worse things get here.

Religion can teach more people to hate instead of being understanding.

How often do you see posts put up by Christians that are titled something along the lines of "Hey, secular humanists, you're all liars." Now how many threads are started by secular humanists that attack religion?

Two quotes up you call all American Christians stupid.

How dare you preach to me about intolerance or hate. :yuk

:24::24: This has got to be the most disjointed thread I've ever seen!!

I only respond to this one because I like the play on words I came up with.

You not only can't argue with statistics, you can't argue with statistics.

For a thousand years christians killed anyone that got in their way, especially atheists & now that we get to speak out you guys can't handle it. Has anyone else noticed that since they stopped killing atheists church attendance is at an all time low & still dropping. Yes, history is absolutely rife with the persecution of your ethnic group. You should petition the UN to make them give you your land back.

Yeh, it's kinda dumb that people would depict a Jew from the Middle East as having bue-eyes and brown hair. Is that your only point? Seems a bit shallow Is your aim just to say something negative about Christianity no matter how silly?

Jeremiah 10:1-4

I have always loved the way christians pick out the bits of the bible they like & totally ignore the bits they don't. This passage clearly says that god does not want you to have a tree & decorations.

I don't want to cause an argument here, but nothing says that we can't celebrate Christmas in the way we want to
Quote:
1 Hear what the LORD says to you, O house of Israel.
2 This is what the LORD says:
"Do not learn the ways of the nations
or be terrified by signs in the sky,
though the nations are terrified by them.
3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

We don't cut out a tree for the sake of Christmas, and put into a shape we want to see it, just for Christmas, some actually leave it growing in their backyards

4 They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so it will not totter.

Well that would simply leave it open for thieves, why worry yourself? You should be more concerned about yourself (i.e. take the splint out of your own eyes (quoted from Jesus' saying))

Please, I want a normal discussion on religion, not the one I have had earlier when I first joined

The Bible is full of a lot of shit and hate. It also says

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

I dont know of any other book that is seen as a good thing and not banned for encouraging people to kill others for being homosexual.
But Texas has a gay mayor now. Not a detestable act for the state though.

Ok, still not following you, my quote from the Bible has nothing to do with a thread about Christianity and your talk about a gay mayor does because???......
I am reffering to the above quote.

I wish I could have been there to hear the evil, satisfied chuckle I'm sure you had as you posted this. :24:

As clearly devastating a case you make, I'm putting a solid $20 spot that says you didn't phase them. :p
