I have always loved the way christians pick out the bits of the bible they like & totally ignore the bits they don't. This passage clearly says that god does not want you to have a tree & decorations.

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

I dont know of any other book that is seen as a good thing and not banned for encouraging people to kill others for being homosexual.

This is the text of the same chapter (just for reference once again):

If you read verse 3 very closely you'll notice the phrase: and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

If you put that verse into context with the rest of the text, the chapter is given a whole new meaning. Christmas trees aren't the object being referred to, idols are. The people cut down a tree and a craftsman uses the wood to chisel out an idol. The idol is then decorated with silver and gold and fastened. Once the idol is complete, the people worship it.

In this Bible verse, God is commanding the people not to build idols and worship them, as that is in direct contradiction with the commandments he has given.

Yup. And it's not even that I disagree with the OP. The decorated tree was adopted from pagans, if I'm not mistaken. But that passage was written hundreds of years before the first Christian was ever born, and I doubt the author knew about the ways of Druids.

Clearly this verse is being taken out of context. Read the chapter before, and the chapter after. Then come back and tell me if you still think we're not supposed to have Christmas trees.

Has anyone else noticed that since they stopped killing atheists church attendance is at an all time low & still dropping. Funny how people lose interest in something when they are free to make their own choices & are no longer scared.
