Its not a skill at all, far from it but I never outgrew getting up and walking out when a loud plane or helicopter fly over because I wanna see it.

Lifeflight's landing zone is at our Sheriff's Department (which is right next door to the 911 center). I *may* be guilty of going outside just to watch them land...and take pictures...maybe. :D

Detecting the ice cream truck before it's even on the street. I did that last summer at my boyfriend's place - his sister did as well, we both ran outside at the same time.

We learned to multiply our threes and fours to the tune of jingle bells. I still do it sometimes.

Also, when doing multiplication by 9s, I do the finger thing. 9x7...put down the 7th finger from left to right, and count how many fingers come before the finger that's down and how many are after. 6 and 3. 9x7=63.

My brother says that's complicated, but I've always found it useful.

I love the trick with the 9's!

I learned a new multiplying trick the summer! It isn't so much useful as it is just cool. It only works on multiplying two numbers between 5 and 10 together. You use one hand for each number. Let's say I am multiplying 7 and 8 together. I will use my left hand to show 7. Since I don't have 7 fingers on one hand, I am just going to hold up however many I have left when I take away 5; so I would hold up 2 (7 - 5 = 2). On my right hand I would do the same thing for 8, so I would hold up 3 fingers (8 - 5 = 3). Okay...so now you are holding up 2 fingers on one hand and 3 on the other. The number of fingers that are up is the number in the tens place. Since I have 5 fingers up my answer will be fifty-something. Now you look at the number on fingers down on each hand. I have 3 down on one hand and 2 on the other. Multiply these together to get the ones place. 2 x 3 = 6, so my answer is 56!

Ok...sounds waaaaaay more complicated than it is.
