SOLEDAD - A 30-year-old child molester is dead after being killed at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad.

Lt. Eric Moore of the prison said Donald Jones was assaulted by a group of prisoners Friday morning in the general population maximum-security yard. He was pronounced dead about 90 minutes later. Prison officers recovered a stabbing weapon at the scene.

Jones had been in the facility since 1995, serving a 20-year sentence out of Los Angeles County for sodomy on a child under 14.

Authorities said six men are suspected in Jones' death. They already are serving sentences for convictions that include second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and kidnapping.

this doesn't surprise me. from what i heard guys in prison don't put up with any child abuse.

Most of them chose volutarily to be put into segregation for their own protection. If you're a sex case and chose to chance people not finding out in general population, you're taking your life into your own hands. When I was inside I saw a few serious injuries to sex offenders who tried to stay in general population, one I arranged.

Did you know that by sticking sugar in boiling water it makes it stick to the skin and burn much much more when thrown over someone?:D

I guess I gathered from your post that you felt he got what he deserved. Maybe I extrapolated your lack of compassion at his passing for a sense of justice. My mistake. ;)

I wouldn't say anyone deserves death but I can see why this was done to him. Anyone who commits a crime leaves themself open to acts of revenge by people on a mission and who arn't impartial. I just dont think it's the laws place to or the world would be in more chaos than it is. The people who killed him were wrong but there's a huge difference between what they did and killing someone for no good reason. If you're in an environment like that full of irrational nutters, things like this are likely to happen, especially if you're stupid enough not to go into segregation.
