Little Rock Police say more than 50 rounds were fired into a house at 2715 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive just before 5:00 am on Saturday morning. Police say at least seven rounds struck 6-year-old Kamya Weathersby, who was sleeping in a bed at the front of the house. A television in her room was on at the time. She was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital, but authorities say her condition is grave; she has no brain activity, and is not expected to survive.

Police say it appears at least two gunmen pulled up to the house and walked around it as they fired. Kamya's parents, LaShendra Washington and Antoine Jones were also in the residence during the attack, along with a two-month-old child, and a 4-year-old child. No one besides Kamya Weathersby was injured.

"Right now the mother and father tell us they have no idea why this happened, or who could have done this," Lt. Terry Hastings of the LRPD said. "We are looking into whether it is related to other crimes that happened in Little Rock. We're really digging hard trying to find an answer for this." He asked anyone with information on the shooting to call Little Rock Police.

Crime Scene Investigators were still on the scene at 10 am this morning collecting evidence. Neighbors, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told KARK that the residents of the home had just moved in within the past week. One man said hearing gunshots at night is a regular occurrence in the neighborhood. He said it makes him feel "unsafe, very unsafe. I know law enforcement does their part, but you can't stop everything."

He added that he still likes the people that he knows in the neighborhood. "A lot of them are hard working people that get up every morning at go to work, and come home to spend time with their kids."

Lt. Hastings said the crime is unlike any driveby he's seen in his 32-year career.

"You see and hear of people driving by and shooting six or seven rounds into a house, but I've never seen a house that's had this many rounds shot into it at one time," he said.

There seems to be one of these stories here just about every few days.

I hope that for the parents' sake, that when they say they don't know why this happeend, they are telling the truth, cos if it is drug-related, or weapon-related and they lied after all, well......

The truth will out in the end.
