I never knew until I went to DC that they are supposedly the "Cherry Blossom Capital of the World." I grew up in Macon, GA and in the South we are well known for our yearly Cherry Blossom festival (just ended, by the way). We have more than 10 times the cherry blossom trees that DC has.

Here are some pictures I took last week while attending some of the festivities. They're very colorful and pretty this year.

Those are beautiful! Okinawa also has beautiful cherry blossoms; they have a winding road lined with the trees that's very popular.

If I remember right, the Japanese emperor gave the trees to Washington as a gift.

Yep, that's how it goes.

It would be awesome to plan a trip to DC during the spring when everything is blooming and visit the sights all over again. I went to DC about four years ago during the summer and everything was dried up and dead!

I wanted to go this year since we're only about an hour from D.C. but I ended up heading back to Florida to visit family and I'm missing them.
