the charges of rape against this guy were dropped

the courts dealt with his crime ( assualt) and he was sentenced

she has a right to freedom of speech, that can easily be addressed by her leaving the cheerleading team if she objects to his presence, if her family were adamant that he be tried and punished for rape they should not have allowed the prosecution to drop the charges

And yet we tolerate people not being respectful during the National Anthem. I disagree with the school's position and I think it is wrong she has to compensate them but I am not sure it was worth a prolonged lawsuit either. I suspect the compensation will go directly to lawyers for their fees.
