Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery. These pictures were taken on May 6th, 2008.

First, the tomb.







I don't remember this gentleman's name, but he addressed the crowd and gave the orders for the ceremony. Unfortunately there was 1 guy in the crowd who either didn't pay attention or didn't care...he sat down during the ceremony.

This soldier was standing off to the side watching the ceremony. When the guards saluted the tomb he did so, too. I was able to capture it w/ my camera's zoom feature.

I definitely suggest watching the ceremony if you get the chance. It occurs every 30 minutes and is very touching to watch.

If you do go, go ahead and plan on spending about half the day at Arlington. We did a walking tour that we found in a book we ordered and spent about 3 hours just walking through the cemetery. It's really beautiful, though, and I would dare to say it's a history buff's DREAM.
