you two seem to have read the same book

Nope, I'm sorry to inform you that I haven't read that book yet......but I will.

I mean you no disrespect Allen, I just see things differently than you that's all. Jimmy Carter cared....which is more than I can say for ...........well never mind. I don't think I have the strength to open that can of worms.

Lets see now

double digit unemployment ---- yup

bungled handling of Iranian hostages --- yup

interest rates in the high teens ---- yup

The guy could not lead a soup kitchen

And what do you have?? ........ A nice honest man

Wow that is some kind of leadership skills

I give him one accomplishment. Which is tainted as it was basically a buy off and that was his getting Egypt to make peace with Israel.

Big whoopty doo. As the country fell apart around him

Unemployment and inflation were both products of the federal reserve. Carter was a 1 term president because the American people are not educated and only hear the 30 second sound bytes spewed by the politicians and media.

Carter cannot be blamed for the double-digit inflation that peaked on his watch, because inflation started growing in 1965 and snowballed for the next 15 years. To battle inflation, Carter appointed Paul Volcker as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, who defeated it by putting the nation through an intentional recession. Once the threat of inflation abated in late 1982, Volcker cut interest rates and flooded the economy with money, fueling an expansion that lasted seven years. Neither Carter nor Reagan had much to do with the economic events that occurred during their terms.
And don't even talk about the Iranian hostages... Unless you want to talk about Reagan negotiating with terrorists. (see Iran contras)
Then we can bring up the cut and run when Reagan tucked tail and ran when the barracks were blown up in Lebanon.
How about the massive tax hikes Reagan signed into law?

Hell, the list can go on and on. Reagan the darling of the republican party was a chump. Carter was twice the president.

Tim bless you little progressive heart :D

But hey it is good practice for when Obama gets his ass handed to him in a couple years

Reagan was not perfect but Carter could not hold a candle to him

That my friend is a super majority. It proves Carter was not a leader. He could not even get his party to agree.

Keep trying. You just make yourself look more foolish doing so though
enough already. have you got anything to say on topic?

this is about a law suit pending in the here and now, not carter's presidency.

I suppose that's why he won the Nobel Peace Prize? .....so he only served one term....the way I look at it, America was lucky to have him at all.
Nah, he got that for the same reason Obama did: as a political statement - nothing at all to do with the man or his accomplishments.
I've heard this so many times....and each time I do, it reminds me of sour grapes. Jimmy Carters achievements speak for themselves. He may not have been the type of president who played ball, so to speak, but I think he did more in his short time as president than most could ever hope for.
Nope. Found it. Political statement.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Carter
James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr. (born October 1, 1924) served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981 and was the recipient of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, the only U.S. President to have received the Prize after leaving office.
I have to say that he was probably the best former president of my lifetime.

Papa Bush was the best in my lifetime (I was born during Kennedy). I have to caveat that a little because I don't know what Ford did.
gerald ford was america's first appointed president. he won the job through some deft manuevering during the bloodless coup of 1974 apparently mostly as a reward for his role in the warren commission cover up of the coup of 1963.

he's probably remembered best for his pratfalls, beaning frank sinatra with a bad tee shot and giving trickie dick a pardon. he never had a chance against raging post-war inflation and a constituency reeling from watergate.

Yes, but did he support & defend the Constitution and liberties of the individual? That would be rare.
