So after thinking about safety in vehicles I started thinking about car safety and whether people even consider what a safe car is in traffic and do they care ?

Do you consider safety the safety of you're car when purchasing the vehicle or do looks, gas mileage and cost of the vehicle become more important factors in the purchase then safety ? Be Honest now !!

i bought my car when i was drunk. i just asked my ride to stop at the dealer ship just so i could get a better look at the car because i drove by it every day. 1 hour later i walk out with papers to the car. next morning on my way to pick up my new car i couldnt believe what i did. most would have smelled the alcohol on me, the sales lady smelled SALE!
 
The one thign that sold me on the car I drove is onstar. If anything happens where I'm in an accident and can't move or reach my cell phone, someone will come over the intercom and ask if anyone in the vehicle is seriously injured...it's great knowing that i'm sharing the car with a little one...soon to be 2 little ones. And I have the emergency button (which I've already used) connecting me to emergency services, and they will be able to locate my car by satelite.

It also worked out when the wind closed my door on me while my car was running. I called onstar and they unlocked it for me by satelite. And again they'll find my car by satelite if it's stolen.
 
While in my old days I may have looked at "all of the Above" I believe that Safety First will be a consideration to be number one this time..

My main reason for this will be the following..

If I was to look at "All of the Above" it is far to easy to compromise safety for overall cost or even mileage.. Let's face it, the price of gas is still a big factor and many of us still have short memories of what high prices were..

You can always adjust your price range to fit any need to a certain limit..
 
All of the above. Safety is definitely important. However, I have to think about gas mileage too since I spend two hours driving back and forth to work everyday.

And if it fits in my budget I would prefer it to be cute too. I had a VW beetle that I loved. It was extremely safe. The gas mileage was great and it was the cutest thing EVER. I could afford it just fine. But then it started trying to kick the bucket every few months. It no longer fit in my budget anymore. :( I have been sad ever since.

I had a beetle too! We got rid of it about a year and a half ago (it was a lease). In my single life, I would have bought it...but with kids it was a pain in the ass with 2 doors...and then trying to fit a car seat, stroller etc was next to impossible.
 
safety is a concern, always has been and always will be. seat belts are used, the car is maintained regularly. most people forget that maintaining the car keeps it a safe car. bald tires and worn out brakes are huge no-no's. anyone can go fast, but how fast can they stop? i find being able to drive and stop quickly to be more impressive than just going fast.

ever have a ball joint on your car take a shit on you in traffic? i havent but i saw the ball joint that gave up the ghost on someone elses car. yikes. things like that could get you killed or your car damaged, especially on highways and such.

If we look at it from a total safety aspect, motorcycles would be taken off the road as far as keeping you safe.. There is literally no protection and cars / truck make little to no effort to avoid them many times..

Bri must have a heck of a time on the roads on her scooter.. :D
