A Canadian schoolgirl has been questioned by police after a dead baby was found in a London hotel room.

The results of a post-mortem examination on the baby boy on 25 March were "inconclusive", said a Metropolitan Police spokesman.

The baby was found in the hotel room in Hounslow, west London, on 19 March after a group of Canadians who were in England on a school trip went home.

British and Canadian police are investigating.

A spokeswoman for Barrie police in Ontario, Canada, said that a 15-year-old girl from the city had been identified as the baby's mother.

The spokeswoman explained that the police's priority was to make sure the girl was healthy.

"Our main concern was to ensure that she received medical treatment," she said.

The baby will be subject to more tests to try to establish the cause of death, the Metropolitan police spokesman added.

We must remember she is only 15 - still a child. Many teenagers are unsure how to care for a baby. It could be she thought the baby would be okay by him/herself. We just don't know.
And that's why I try not to make any judgment based on a blurb of a news story. Funny thing is I haven't seen anything about the story on any Canadian news site.

I highly doubt that for her age... I knew at 6 that babies needed Mommy's and Daddy's for food & care. I knew babies and people needed to eat and stay healthy or they could die, at the age of 7-8. Also, they teach sex education starting in grade 6.

Given she was obviously scared and afraid; however, also obviously aware of what was going on.

I hope she didn't kill the baby... haven't been able to find out further information.

There's been many stories like this on the news over the years. A lot of the time they are scared to tell anyone or in denial that they could possibly be pregnant/giving birth and just don't know what to do so they panic and abandon the baby.

It's a terrible thing but we don't know all the facts. She could have gotten pregnant as a result of rape or incest which is why she felt she couldn't tell anyone and did what she did. Or she might have just been callous and just not cared. Or the baby might have been born suddenly and dead and being stuck in a foreign country, she didn't know what to do. There are hundreds of possibilities of what happened.

My thoughts exactly. We know too little about this to start judging her.
