Can you take a drunk person's word?

Do you think the truth really comes out after a few drinks? I'm not talking about the lush that yells "I love you.. you're the coolest" to everyone at the bar. But, do you think people set aside their inhibitions somewhat and are able to open up more... or is it just BS?

I think ya have to take in to account the person your dealing with, the situation, and amount to drink. I know some people that alcohol acts like a truth serum for...but i know others that tell the biggest lies.

Most people get a little loose lipped when drinking, so if you know the person you should be able to dig through the BS to get to any truths.

Once drunk, the brain-to-mouth filter is missing. This is not to say that there isn't some truth to what is being said though, but many times they are thoughts that probably wouldn't have been said if the person logically thought through what they were saying. And for people that don't have a brain-to-mouth filter when they are sober anyway I doubt it makes much of a difference when they are drunk - those types are just plain annoying regardless. Definitively takes patience and prayer to be around folks like that. lol!

Try being that person and thinking about what you said in the morning. I can say that I hold nothing back when Im faded. I'll let a person know just how I feel about them. I do this when sober, but it comes out a bit more rude and stupid sounding when i'm drunk. I hate it when I make an ass out of myself whilst faded. *face palm*

It all depends what emotional state that person was when they went into the drink-a-thon. A happy mood will mean they are more likely to tell the truth and tell secrets and the likes, an unhappy mood, the more likely they will lie and be more destructive.

I personally think the alcohol lowers the inhibitions people have and they tend to say what they REALLY think but have been holding in.

I know that I, personally, have let some of my biggest secrets slip while intoxicated. OOPS!!!

I don't know if it's always "truth" comes out when drunk, but rather a lot of things you wouldn't say to another person while not under the influence. I think most have loose lips when drinking.

can't trust a drunk. No such thing as "truth serum." Inhibitions may be relaxed, but the sense of self preservation is still present.

Drunk or sober, someone will lie to save their ass. Being drunk impairs judgement, which I think will make a person more apt to lie...
