Okay.... Here's another plant growing. I got the seeds from my brother, who got the seeds from down south cause he liked the looks of the plant. I definitely love the color! The seeds obviously worked. If it does grow like wildfire as it did at my brother's, this stuff is gonna cover a huge area in no time.

He doesn't remember what it's called. Anyone know?

photinia-red-robin.jpgI found this one, but the plant is too red and it doesn't have all that going to seed stuff on it. Very confusing.

amaranthus leaves can be red

These grew from seeds planted this past fall. The only color has been this reddish maroonish color. No greenery at all. In my brother's yard, they stayed red until winter hit. He then cut them down to the ground and in the spring they grew huge again. Maybe it is a variety of amaranthus. I'll look into it now that I have a name to go on.

Also note that the amaranthus has what looks like tiny little flowers. The plant in my yard where you see the furry shoots.... they feel like velvet to the touch. No flowers at all. In fact, you take that part of the plant and inside of this furry area are the seeds.

Thankx for your help, Ian, on identifying this mysterious plant! :D

Looks like purplish weeds to me :24:
Silly man....

They look awesome because of their color. It really makes a bang in the garden. I'm planning on putting them all along the border of our property eventually. Once they take off.... it should look stunning!

I mean.... it's not everyday you see this strange looking plant in this area.

Want me to mail you some of the seeds this fall? I bet you'd love 'em.... and your wife would too.
