Many say prayer, chanting, or energy rituals reduce anxiety and promote balance. Do spiritual habits complement therapy and medicine, or are they just emotional comfort? What practices have truly made you feel calmer and more centered?

Yes, spirituality can improve mental health. My father was able to cure his depression and gave up medication that he had been taking for more than 10 years when be became spiritual.

Glad to know that. I also believe spiritual practices can support mental health by fostering mindfulness, purpose, and emotional resilience. Meditation, prayer, or reflective rituals help reduce stress, improve focus, and provide comfort during difficult times. While not a replacement for professional care when needed, these practices often enhance well-being and offer coping strategies for daily life challenges.

Spiritual practices for mental health is certainly not a replacement for a proper mental health medication and therapy. However, if you combine with your medication and therapy, spirituality certainly helps.

I see spiritual habits as complementary to therapy and medicine when they provide focus, reflection, or emotional release. I notice practices like mindful breathing, chanting, or quiet reflection can calm the mind and reduce stress. I’ve felt grounded and centered through simple routines, not because they replace treatment, but because they create space for awareness and emotional regulation.
