...what species of moth this is? Sorry about the poor picture quality. I took it with my phone while at work. Never seen one of these before and I'd be interested in knowing what kind it is.

Well, I don't know much about moths. How much variation is allowed? Compared to that one mine has purple on the wings and no spots on the body. The overall shape is the same, though.
I ain't no bug guy bit if you look at the pic in the link I gave it's very very very close. Maybe the difference is in the age of the thing.

I Googled this to find it... " moths in saskatchewan ".

It seems they have a huge collection, I can't say for certain which one it is due to the fact I can't download them all due to the restriction on my internet, hope you do understand

The only problem is that they seem to have Latin names, but you can easily wiki one to get the non-Latin name for it, I suppose

i found a sight that shows you the shape of the moth. That site told me Sphinx.

does this lok like your moth?
