Dust can conduct electricity and short components. Why do you think they put filters behind the fans?
Believe me I cleaned that shit out so many times before it was all gone. I blame my computer tower being on the floor during the apartment renovations.

Okay my brother is an electronic nerd, so I asked him. He said "unless you were eating metal, food crumbs did not cause it to fail." Then he told me, that since the motherboard was working when I gave it to them, they have to fix it, wether or not it was their fault they broke it, it was in their possession. The warranty still covers it anyways, but if they try to pull anything, I just have to warn them that I will call the "Better Business Beruea."

Remember that food CAN get inside the computer case even in Laptops but VERY hard to do. Are you sure you didn't possibly spill any liquids in there? Sure at most times keyboards are above the motherboard and food item will sit inside the keyboard and not go below the keyboard and reach the motherboard but that's if you don't even move the laptop around. If a piece of crumb got in there and you do alot of carrying the laptop around I would expect that crump to move around inside the keyboard and maybe even reach a gap in a place that is exposed to the motherboard.

If you already told them that you spilled food items in there, then you are f-ed. Just like if you get into a car accident. Never admit fault. If you have not told them you spilled food then they should be willing to replace it and have you ship the broken one back. If they already declined replacement due to reason of food crumbs or they already have diagnosed the computer and found the cause then there's no repeal.
