Can food crumbs cause a motherboard to fail?

Well I have been googling everywhere, and people say liquids can, overheating can, age can, but no one else has said food crumbs can. I also got this answer on yahoo answers:

Food won't get on the motherboard because under the keyboard is a plastic cover with very small holes under each key.Only liquid can get through.

the motherboard is NOT in the keyboard.

its in the casing and you shouldnt have food dropping in there ever.

I know, my laptop has never been opened up by anyone either then geek box, so how in the world would I have caused food to get in there?

If they say it's my fault the motherboard failed, and there warranty won't cover it, is there anything I can do to repeal it???

I would think that if food got hot enough to melt, the motherboard would have fried from heat...

considering the mother board is upside down on most laptops you should be able to. if the food is something like cheese and it melted, the heat wouldnt have fried it. the goo would have

Motherboard failure must be covered by the warranty. There is no way food crumbs can get into the motherboard. They just giving excuses cuz motherboard is the most expensive component and its not easy to get a replacement.

They said "Hey these people don't know anything about computers, not only that, but they bought an expensive machine, so they can probably afford to pay to replace a 400$ motherboard."

Oh but to us they simply said food got into the motherboard, it was our fault, and when they sent it into the manufacturer, they probably were not going to pay for it.

I think actually the first time we brought it in, they realized it was failing, because they warned us that food had gotten into the keyboard, and that food can be dangerous to a computer. They said that the warranty won't cover anything that food causes to fail.

Then the next time we bring it in, the motherboard fails, and they say there was more food, and it caused it to fail...

its a laptop and the only kind of food to effect a laptop is a liquid kind so don't let them bullshit you. If you have had issues for a long time...plus a BIG thing you NEED and everyone else NEEDS to know, is during the Christmas months they will try everything in the book to get you to buy a new one. They get commission for every computer or laptop they sell.... i know i used to be one of those people and if I thought you were dumb enough I'd tell you a bunch of shit to get you to buy....I worked for Dell and Gateway.:nod:...OH and a lot of the technicians that work on your laptop are full of shit and read straight from a script... every solution, problem, anything you can think up they are 'googling' it.:thumbdown

Alot of your electronics are failing lately and no food crumbs cannot cause a motheeboard to fail. I've had dry wall dust and shit in my tower and the puppy still ran.
