So I won't totally hijack the cool solar tent thread, I thought I'd start another. Just thinking about camping brings a smile to my face...it's one of my very favorite things to do. Who else loves it...any good stories? I once spent the better part of my vacation just roaming from one camp ground to another, hiking, swimming, exploring...it was awesome.

Here's some pics of one of my favorite places.

My niece warming her toes....

We were bbq-ing their cousin, I think they came to pay their respects....

I've been camping enough times, not because I enjoy it but more because its the cheapest way of staying somewhere. It's a laugh if its in summer and you get pissed every night but then so is staying anywhere. :D

I haven't been camping since about the Winter of '92. I quite enjoy it.

We really should set up my tent in the backyard, throw the air-mattress in it and have at it. But it's not the same ;) I'd find out if my tent is still in one piece ;) Considering I bought in around 1985 :24: There is one at work I've been coveting that has three rooms and a porch :cool:thumbup One day it will go on sale and I won't be able to refuse any longer....:ninja I won't have to make a porch out of visquene & binder clips? What fun it that? :D

I love cooking over a campfire:cool

My favourite site is Ginnie Springs. In High Springs, Florida. The one furthest back from everything right on the river. Plus there is great scuba diving there. :)

Crooked Junction off of SR 50 in Webster is also quite scenic. As is Ocala National Forest.

As for pics, they are in a box somewhere. :cool

I love camping too and surely miss it a lot. Haven't done it in about 5 years now :(

I've substituted it with hiking for now and still enjoying the great outdoors

Just like you did campground hopping, I can remember doing the same when i used to lived in Chicago. We were en route to NY/PA/FL. We started camping from Indiana dunes, mountain/shores in Michigan, mountains in PA then off to an island/coast in GA/Florida. It was an awesome experience.

The thing i enjoy the most is hanging out at night star gazing, warmth brought by heat from the fire pit. I also like grilling some meat /freshly caught fish, hotdogs and marshmallows. It's a picnic!

I'll try to dig some pics in hope that i find some (lost most in storage-long story)

I hadn't camped in FOREVER and then I ended up going twice last year for long weekends (for the Warrior Dash). I love it!!! I want to go a lot more this year. My cousin is an old pro (like literally, she's the kind of person that hikes w/ her tent on her back until she gets tired and then sets up camp somewhere), so maybe I can talk her into some trips. The last time I went I got Poison Sumac, though, and it didn't go away for MONTHS. I'll have to be more careful next time, LMFAO Not much beats sitting around a campfire, drinking a beer w/ friends, and trying to figure out what the pair of glowing eyes you see belongs to. :24:

In my head I'm one of those people, but in reality, not so much.:p

Poison Sumac? Ewwww....I'm assuming that's like poison ivy, which I had once and it was awful.

If I remember correctly, Poison Sumac is the most severe. It was God-awful. It would ALMOST go away and then come back w/ a vengeance. Literally took me like 2 months or more to get rid of it completely.

I'vs camped dozens of times. Tonight, my brother offered to take my youngest camping with him in March. I'll be out of the country at the time. I'm thinking...no.
