I have call waiting just in case an important call comes in while I'm jabber jawing. Most of the time I ignore it, because I find it rude to stop the conversation I'm having to answer another's call and then make them wait while I get rid of them.... or else let them know I've got another call more important waiting.
I don't exactly come out and tell caller #2 that caller #1 is more important.... but if I get rid of them.... they assume it to be that way. *shrugs* So.... to avoid hurt feelings... I'll ignore call waiting and get back to that person when I'm done with #1.

Well said person's conversations are rarely ever important and a lot of times they'll be on the phone 2 hours with someone that only lives 20 minutes away.
I think if you're not going to use the feature you shouldnt have it. I'd rather get a busy signal than call someone knowing they're on the phone and are not picking up.
..... but what if an important call needed to get through?
We have it be cause my wife never wants to miss a call from our children. I hate it if I am in the middle of something work related.
