only had the iMac for a month and i made an error when splitting the hard disc up so it could run windows, now it wont start up and Apple's support pages don't cover my problem

i fear i have just lost £1k

Don't know anything about Macs but if they come with a boot disk, maybe you can just reload it... or maybe there's a system restore feature.

Sorry if these are all obvious windows stuff.

ermmm macs can run windows. Did you get bootcamp or did you just try installing it yourself? You might need to find a mac store and make an appointment at the genius bar, they cover pretty much everything. I hope you have a warranty!

i did it under boot camp, and when i forgot to partition the hard disc i accidentally clicked to re-boot the windows setup, to save 30 seconds i wanged my hand round the back and switched it off, now it wont recognize the hard disc or the system restore CD which should be used to sort things like this out.

somehow it will be fixed and all my music can be scraped off my pod so i wot have lost much but the most annoying thing about this is it was totally my fault :p you all know that feeling
