If you ran a forum, would you enforce the rules strictly upon whoever violated them? Even if this rule breaker was a really good friend of yours?

Honestly it depends on the violation. If it is a minor infraction (e.g. necroposting, double posting etc.) , I would most likely look the other way a couple of more times than I might for another user. However, if the same thing was repeated ad nauseam or the violation was more serious (e.g. abuse of position) then I would not hesitate to completely remove their ability to continue to engage with the community like I would with any other miscreant.

Yes I would. it's not to punish the person but for the business to learn and avoid doing such and to show others I'm serious with my rules

I do run forums.

I enforce the rules to everyone and no one (not even staff, not even me) gets to violate them.

They're common sense rules, too. If you can't follow them, you shouldn't be on the internet to begin with.

I am the wrong person to run or manage a forum. I would be so strict with the rules that many posts I see on forums would be deleted. And I don't display nepotistic tendencies when enforcing rules. You break it, you go down for it regardless of my relationship with you.

I will stick to the rules. My friend shouldn't join my forum and be working on pulling it down. That person is never a good friend at all. So, I will ensure that I don't let such occur at all.

Yes, I would enforce the rules fairly, even if the rule breaker were a close friend. Favoritism undermines a forum’s integrity and credibility. A good friend should understand that rules exist to maintain order and fairness, ensuring a better experience for everyone.

The reason why the world is looking to be chaotic is because people are not firm. If I am struggling to build a forum and you are undermining my efforts by breaking the rules, I would just delete your account promptly.

I don't have strict rules, so I believe everyone will be comfortable following them. However, rule breakers are common and I will always take action accordingly. I do not want to be unfair so my rules applies for everyone, including a friend.
