A coalition of religious leaders, many of them black Christian pastors, have lobbied the White House to reject the amendment, saying it could lead to suppression of free speech and religious expression.

Ok why "black" Christian Pastors? why can't they just be Christian pastors?

And in addition I agree that justice should be dealt to anyone equally. But if you guys don't remember that a special someone had privileges in Jail (Paris Hilton) and you think that they won't pass this.. cmon

No, the Pledge of Allegiance doesn't teach prejudice, it teaches many American values. My point is that federal funds which are allotted to schools for other programs (such as school breakfasts/lunches) are similar to funds that are possible thru the passage of this bill to teach that hate is a bad thang. I would be dating myself if I talked about President Kennedy's program for physical education. :D

This bill is much more complex than trying to regulate what people think or how criminal cases are prosecuted. And the original anti hate bill is already in effect, this ammendment to the bill is just to include the gay folks. The original bill already covers other minorities.

I don't agree with the last bill they passed, so I'm not going to agree with this one either.

It is a shame that they are attaching funds being made possible to this horrible bill.

But then this is what they always do and the media starts talking about how congressmen/women that voted down funds for our children when in essence that is not what they were voting down.

Excuse me I think I need to go barf now. LOL! ;)

But I HATE it when politicians, both right and left, attach a red-herring amendment to something just to piggyback their policy onto something entirely unrelated. Both parties do it, and it's partisan politics at it's highest order. It's ridiculous!
That's what I was talking about here. All parties do it, and it sux big time. Stupid!

I've read about hundreds of millions of dollars being misappropriated in this way. :yuk :mad
