Bush plan working on North Korea:

Bush Offers Carrots in Exchange for North Korea Nukes Declaration

President Bush comments on North Korea's denuclearization declaration.

WASHINGTON — Pledging "action for action," President Bush on Thursday said North Korea has demonstrated a commitment to dismantling its nuclear weapons program and will be rewarded by being removed from the U.S. list of state sponsors and having trade sanctions lifted.

The president spoke hours after North Korea submitted its long-awaited declaration detailing its nuclear weapons activities. The government said that it would televise the demolition of the cooling tower at its Yongbyon nuclear facility on Friday, and turned over documents to China about its plutonium core and waste activities.

Seems to be good news to me. Yes? :D

Apparently you desperately need your cynicism levels topping up.

I don't trust any politicians really, but if i was forced to rank them in trustworthiness I can't imagine any of North Korea's getting near the top 10...

Yes it is good news.

But as I have Anti-Bush disease it's hard for me to say much positive about him. This Administration has a very odd, contrary idea of what diplomacy is all about. I've heard career diplomats speak regarding this Administrations methods and it's generally negative, oh hell, it's all negative. I've not heard anyone except Bush boosters complement him on this Administrations diplomatic skills. There is a saying about even the blind squirrel finds a nut every so often. ;)

I wonder why this type of strategy isn't used on Iran... Isn't this approach preferred to saber rattling?

And yes, this is great news... but we must be careful to make sure that they are actually doing what they say they are...
