Burning The Koran

They tried to come over here but out government banned them from entering the country.:thumbup
They were stopped dead in their tracks trying to get into Canada which was a damn good thing. They can have all the freedom of speech they want in their own hate filled country but they sure as hell won't be doing it in Canada. :thumbup

I'd blame the media. They covered this idiot. Had they not, who'd have known overseas that this idiot actually burned it?

That said, for someone around the other side of the world to get their tits in an uproar over an idiot and riot they themselves are responsible for that. Get a life. I agree that it appears some people use any excuse to inflame.

As for that other idiot phelps, his hateful actions gave rise to the Patriot Guard:

Yep, our hate-filled country needs to keep it's haters here. We don't need that low percentage of the population getting out and giving us a worse rep than our politicians already do around the globe.

Also, you forgot to mention our stupid & gullible. I think they're a bigger part of our hate-filled population and they contribute greatly to our ability to re-elect the same old sold out shit time after time after time.

I see once again Abortion and Gay Marriage is being bandied about as elections are coming. Oh wouldn't it be refreshing if the part of the population those buzz words incite to vote stupidly finally realize they are being used as tools and we actually manage to vote the sold out crap out on their collective sold-out asses?

One can only hope. Again, I blame the media. Or perhaps I should give them kudos? As they do exactly what they are paid to do. Distract, distract, distract....

Ok, I've :horse:horse:horse enough.

America is "hate filled"? Get over yourself.

Every country has people who have hateful ideas, including *gasp* Canada. Just because your country has laws against them expressing their ideas, doesn't mean they don't exist.

I call it as I see it.

Get over yourself.

Wow... another Retro. :clap

I fully agree with your comment about Canada having hate filled ideas but what I will also say is that our laws against hate filled speech and actions is very strong. I have very mixed feelings about freedom of speech. I'm all for it until it creates the potential of someone loosing their life over something someone says or does. Ya I know we / you don't have any control over actions committed in a country other than yours and yes they were idiots for killing those folks but if someone doesn't have the ability to control their stupidity sometimes laws have to be created in order to assist them.

If Canada and Britain would have allowed them in it would be a sign to the rest of the world that we condone their actions and that may have drawn us into the fray. We have enough problems as it stands and don't need to inherit another.

I didn't forget. I just didn't want to incite another riot as tempting as it was. ;) " Sheeple " ... that's exactly what those type of people are.

It's the politically correct thing to do and what better time than an election to do it.

I don't think it's fair to blame the media. I prefer to hear both sides of an issue so I can make up my own mind. If it weren't for them you would only get one side of the story and for the most part those are slightly slanted. ;) The truth usually surfaces somewhere in the middle.

Your media may give you both sides? Our corporate media gives us one side dressed up as two sides.

I say that yet I haven't watched corporate media in years. So perhaps it's changed under Obama? :24:

I watch our local news for weather and local fluff.

When I want to know what's really happening I go to independent news blogs. There is where the truth is or at least objectivity. No 'sponsors' telling them what they can or cannot print.

All you need is critical thinking skills. Something the MSM counts on one not having. A bottle of Tums & aspirin helps too on some days. ;)

No wonder our government wants to censor the net. Can't be finding truth at our fingertips now can we? We're supposed to believe what they tell us to believe.:usa: Anything else is an unPatriotic Conspiracy Theory.

I still hold out hope that one day our sheeple will wake up. Not much hope, but a ray or two. When they do that is when we'll see Change we can Believe in.

Correction: Two people have been killed by murderers who shunted their responsibility onto an act by a complete stranger half a world away. Big font doesn't make big truth.

Hang on to your accounting book.
I only asked the question to get some feedback.
As for the " big font " being new I was just checking things out to see which fits best.
The font I was using wasn't so as you can see I changed it.

Actually, it's interesting this thread has come up because this is what happens when you pull that Koran burning shit over here.:thumbup

BNP candidate Sion Owens faces 'Koran burn' charge

A BNP candidate for next month's Welsh assembly elections has been charged with a public order offence, after police were passed a video appearing to show him burning a copy of the Koran.
Sion Owens, 41, was named as a party candidate for the South Wales West regional list last week.
He is due to appear at Swansea magistrates' court on Monday.
A second BNP election candidate has been arrested in connection with the incident, and released on bail.
A BNP spokesperson said both would still be candidates in the assembly election on 5 May.
On Friday, police were given a video which appeared to show Mr Owens dousing a copy of the Koran with a highly flammable fluid, before setting it alight and watching it burn.
Later that day he and another of the party's candidates for the assembly election, Swansea East candidate Joanne Shannon, were arrested.
Mr Owens was charged on Saturday night. He is in custody in Swansea, and due to appear in court on Monday.
Ms Shannon has been bailed pending further inquiries

Free speech with limits isn't truly free speech. If free speech is not available to you, then you do not truly have the right to speak freely against other things, such as how you feel about your elected politicians and the state of the government. If the government were to have the right to limit free speech in one area, what would stop them from limiting it in others?

Let's say that you're leading a group demonstrating in support of gay marriage, and these hate filled people began to began to counter-protest loudly against you group. Then lets say that a few members of the counter-protest began to get violent, attacking members of your own protest. Then they got so upset that one of them pulled out a gun and started shooting members of your group.

According to some here, you would be as guilty of the murders of the members of your group as those that committed the act. How does that make sense? You've incited people to counter-protest, and then they took matters into their own hands and got violent and killed people. That's the same thing that happened in this case. Should the government not allowed you to have your demonstration to begin with? If that's the case, you're limiting free speech in a very scary way. But apparently there are a lot of you that don't have an issue with that.

Do you feel the same way about Muslim extremists burning poppies on rememberance day?

It's a bit from A and B from me, if people believed so strongly in something or were against something so much they'd take a stand against it regardless of publicity gained, but the publicity is not unwelcome to them because they know they can spark a bigger reaction if they are shown on TV doing...well let's use Peter's example, burning poppies. I'm not blaming the media for covering the news and giving whoever coverage because that gains viewers.

America is no more hate-filled than any other country. Every country has their own "claim to fame" haters, such as: Germany has Hitler (I think he takes the cake as the worlds biggest hate-filled asshole IMO) and Cuba has Fidel Castro, Italy has Mussolini, the Soviet Union has Stalin, and so on and so forth. It's not correct to say that America is a "hate-filled country" as if your country or anyone elses for that matter is any better.
