Same here. Watching a friend have a meltdown that I knew would eventually be coming. 2 weeks from now he'll be back w/ the same chick, no doubt, and things will be great for about a month and we'll repeat this cycle. He's a good guy but has an abrasive personality and, I think, a little bit of a drinking problem. But he's been a good friend to me and I love him nonetheless. I hope he gets it figured out.

I have been spending too much time either at the doc's or laying around with my leg propped up. Even that ain't helping much. Saw a new doc yesterday so hopefully some of the tests she wants done will find out what is wrong. Had to do a retread on my old comfy sneakers with a roll of duct tape yesterday. They are the only shoe that still fits on that foot.:tooth
I have been busy with my uncle who has been here for a few days.. today I am a sad panda cuz yesterday I took him up to another town for work.. I didn't realize how homesick I was until I had family around..
It sucks that I can't go home this summer.. but then again it's for a good cause.. and mom will be here around Halloween.

Actually, to be fair, he lives in Colorado so I'm basing my observations on what I see from a distance. Having said that...I got off work at 0530 hrs this morning and didn't go to bed until noon b/c I was talking to him. He went to his first AA meeting yesterday and is working on rebuilding his life. I'm trying to get him to understand that he deserves better. It's a slow process, but I think I got through a little bit. He ended our conversation by saying "I love you. Thank you!"

He has to be ready to do it for himself and nobody else. Went to many meeting in the early years of my sobriety. It gets easier after a few years. Working on 18 years now and will always be grateful to AA.
Exactly. He told me this morning that he was arrested "because of her." This is his 2nd arrest involving a female and his drinking. And he lost his job as a police officer here b/c of a situation w/ a woman, too. He has to come to the realization that until he works on himself and fixes him, he's going to continue on this path. You can't count on others to make you happy or whole...you have to do that yourself and the rest will fall in to place.

Sobriety has to be your first priority. Everything else will work out if you stay sober. When you go back to drinking the same things will keep happening.
Agreed. I hope that he can get things worked out. He needs to stay away from women for a while and concentrate on his sobriety.
