The Dark Is Rising series by Susan Cooper.

I remember these! I didn't own them but my nan does and when we stayed at her house for a week every summer, I would read these :)

I have really good memories of them, although they tried to make a film of it a while back and it was so fail.

Yeah, I love the series. I heard about the movie but never got around to seeing it. Awhile ago I read some fan reviews and now I'm glad I didn't. :ninja Sometimes I wonder why they bother making books into movies if they're not going to follow the book. :dunno

I'm a slow reader. Any Honor Harrington fans here? I'm all most done with Basilisk Station. I plan on continuing the series. Thumbs up.

Barnes and Noble has it for $8. This might make a good movie.

Secret Garden.

I've had a beautiful red felt-type fabric covered copy with a built-in book mark and gold leafing on the cover for years, maybe since before I was a teen, that I'm not sure I've ever read. I have to admit, I do feel just a little luxurious reading it. And it's been ages since I've seen the movie, so it's still new-ish, even though I can remember some stuff before I get there.

The Violent Bear it Away by Flannery O'Connor.

Dynamic southern female writer who unfortunately died at the age of 39 after publishing only two novels and a few short stories.

Did you read the other two? Are you enjoying the series?

Not dirrected at me but I'll answer anyway... The series was 'ok'. I don't regret reading it. The second and third books were better than the first imo.

Just finished On Basilisk Station and the ending was amazing,
a space duel between star ships
. On to the next edition of Honor Harrington- The Honor of the Queen! :D
