Brilliant historical author, even if her dad was an active advocate of freeing serial child killers.

I've never read any of her work before but I was looking through Waterstones in the History Section and discovered a load of her books so I bought it and The Six Wives of Henry VIII.

It's really wonderfully written and so detailed, especially at explaining all the different members of the French Royale family, ministers etc which I wasn't too familliar with. Sometimes I find that history books can be quite heavy and at times laborious to read, but this isn't.

I'm definately going to buy some more of her books. I had a look on Amazon and she has written a lot about famous female Historical figures, which really interests me.

Armies of the Raj: From the Great Indian Mutiny to Independence; 1858, 1947.
By Byron Farwell

Finding it very interesting, it starts with an overview of the East India Company and all of it's future almagamated competitors. It also discusses in detail the numerous events and reasons that triggered the Great Mutiny. Many of which can be put down to sloppy, lazy or disrespectful attitudes, and administatrive and practical oversights.
For example, the final straw, came with the standard issuement of paper cartridges that had to be bitten to load a weapon. These cartridges, however, were coated with fat from either a pig or cow. So abhorrent to the Hindu or Muslim soldiers using them.
This was in fact little more than an error on the part of the equipment supervisors and quartermasters. But the Indian soldiers saw it as a continuation of the attempts by the British to undermine their relgious belief's. The trade company set up by Elizabeth I had made it's fortune through amiable relations and understanding with the locals, but the almost PMC like corporation that it transformed into forgot much of this and suffered for it.

I have been reading the same 2 books over and over again for the last month, thanks to packing all the rest of my books and my move getting delayed. So right now it's either Kings and Queens of England and Scotland or The Top 10 of Everything 1999 for the 100,000th time.

Just finished the 10th Sookie Stackhouse book (True Blood). I just started The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. I've been told it's slow for the first 100 pages and then picks up. I'm on page 89 and am enjoying it so far.

The Hobbit

:thumbup One of the best fantasy books ever written. I've read it at least 3 times along with the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The Princess Bride :D

Thought about reading it after seeing the movie. :)

I am Legend by Richard Matheson

Any good?
