I haven't read in like 2 or 3 weeks now... argh. That's it. I have to start reading again. I've noticed that I go through binges the last few months. Won't read for a few weeks, then I'll read a few books within 2 weeks or so. Repeat.

No kidding, I'm still only around half the way through We, a 220 pager. LOL I've been otherwise engaged for a few weeks

I finally finished the Marilyn Manson biography and now I'm doing a quick read of a children's novel... Sideways Stories From Wayside School. It's odd but awesome.

Then I'm onto some Steampunk... Whitechapel Gods by S.M. Peters.

i've been on a Jeffery deaver kick. i just finished his new novel featuring Linc Rhyme "Broken Window" and i'm know in the middle of "twisted" a collection of short stories by the same author.

Snuff is the first Palahniuk novel that I haven't wanted to read since I got into him. Maybe eventually but he really needs to just concentrate on writing an amazing novel instead of churning one out every year.

Well it's not so much his writing lately. I just don't think Snuff is a great premise... doesn't really interest me. Seems kind of bland and too "shocking," in the same way Haunted was.

I'd probably rank his books in this order:

Fight Club - Awesome
Invisible Monsters - Almost awesome
Diary - Almost awesome
Lullaby - Great
Rant - Good
Survivor - Good
Haunted - Below average
Choke - Below average

Oh, and I haven't read his non-fiction.

And even though Rant was a good book, I'm not looking forward to the sequels.

I just started Whitechapel Gods by S.M. Peters. It's an attempt to branch out into different genres. I noticed that a bunch of my books fall within the realm of post-modern fiction so I picked up this book and it's a steampunk one.

The Diamond Age or, A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer

A postcyberpunk novel by Neal Stephenson. It is a bildungsroman focused on a young girl named Nell, and set in a world in which nanotechnology affects all aspects of life. Some main motifs include: education, social class, ethnicity, and the nature of artificial intelligence.

In 1996, it won the Hugo Award for Best Novel and was shortlisted for the Nebula and other awards, placing it among the most-honored works of science fiction in recent history.

It is currently being made into a six hour miniseries with the help of George Clooney.

I am not far into it, but it is not gripping me as quickly as two of his earlier novels did - Zodiac and Snow Crash. I would thoroughly recommend either of those to anyone who wanted to sample his work.
