Any reason why French particularly? I couldn't stand it at school, I preferred German :)

Yeah, it's kind off a career move. The company I'm hoping to start working for this year requires good english skills and as an additional asset one of the following: German, French or Russian. Russian is fairly easy but just not for me and German never really sounded nice to my ears. That leaves us with French which I by the way, just like you, hated at school but now I adore my French lessons : ) I blame my teacher's for that : P

I've started a few Stephen King novels, but every time, something gets in my way of finishing.

Well you've got a point there, don't get me wrong I really like King's novels but usually the endings are a huge dissapointment. For example his latest "Under the dome" great book just the ending didn't seem right, kinda didn't fit with to the rest of the story.

Im reading the third book in the Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay. Awsome HBO series based on well written books IMO.

The series is awesome ! The book's cover the same stories ? Or is it something utterly different ?

I saw a book today at Borders I wanted to get, called "The Sociopath Next Door". I didn't have the money to buy it so I'll either read it online or see if the library has a copy. It's basically a book on the psychology of sociopaths. It was something like 1 out of 4 people you know is a sociopath. Nuts, huh?

Harlan Ellison
"I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream"

Have you read that one yet? If so, what do you make of it? Ellison is one of my favs. And

Thomas Ligotti
The Last Feast of Harlequin

I have Ligotti's "Nightmare Factory." Another fav or mine.

Good stuff :thumbup:thumbup
that Ellison dude is sick - that story was soo dark and just reeked of pain and depression, it was hard to read, very powerful though. The Ligotti one was too gothic for my taste but well written nevertheless

I'm down to just one, my nightstand got too cluttered :(

It's called The Fiend in Human. I've owned it for years and never been able to get through it, but last night, it started to sink in, and now I'm excited about it!

What's the plot?

it's not a novel, it's a book about our consumption model, and suggestions on how it could be changed: rather than making and recycling, designing and building items with future uses in mind, with sustainable materials. Really quite fascinating.

I'm also reading:

Sounds interesting. Have any of the suggested changes been implemented?

Want some aggro? - Mickey Smith and Cass Pennant.
The true story of West Ham's original hooligans in the late 60s and 70s before the I.C.F. took over. It was mainly lots of smaller mobs including the Mile End Mafia back then. A good and interesting read.
