This type of thread gets posted once in a while, but I can't remember the last one, so thought I'd start this up.

What are your favorite board/card games?

I fucking love Cluedo. I always, always have a brilliant system for working out the answer, and then about two thirds of the way through I get mixed up and start executing it wrong. So I get two answers right, and mess up the third one *facepalm*

I'm good at card games, but I forget the rules a lot. I play games every Friday with some friends, and we always play one particular card game at the end of the night. I never remember the rules. I say 'two's are special cards, right?' quite a lot.

I haven't played any board games in quite some time, but our family is big on cards....both crib and skat, and yep, drinking goes hand in hand.

Apples to Apples. And Taboo, but only when my sister and I are on the same team. We kill at that game.

I love Clue. I'll have to see if my parents still have it when I'm done there.

I never heard of it.:(

It's so simple:

Basically two decks of cards, green and red. One deck has categories, the others words/names/things etc. mostly goofy things from popular culture etc. Everyone gets five cards with the words. Then you go around and each person takes a turn taking one of the "category" cards or whatever they're called. Then everyone tries to match up one of their words with the card that was drawn. The person who drew the card picks the one that makes the most sense, or the one they like best. And it continues.

Ahhh, that does sound fun.

Quick story about the worst game in the world, Monopoly.

My cousins from Floriduhland were visiting a few years back. One of my cousins really loves Monopoly, so the whole family plays it when they come. The only problem is, this cousin takes the game way too super seriously. The last time they visited, I won, and he was determined to beat me to break my "winning streak". yea wtf whatever.

So we begin playing and after a while, him and I are in the lead. We both have monopolies and have started putting houses and hotels on the properties. So, we're at that crucial make-it or break-it point in the game. During one of my turns, I land on Community Chest and pick up a card. Unlucky for me, I pick up the card that charges you a boatload of money for repairs or whatever on all your properties with houses and hotels. In a split second, I realize that this card will probably make me lose the game and my cousin will go on an on about how he beat me at Monopoly for the rest of their vacation. I don't know how I pulled it off, but without anyone noticing (there were like 8 people), I slip the card under the deck and take another one. I won the game and that was that.

Thankfully I haven't had to play that hellish game since.

Monopoly is a cruel mistress. It breaks families apart. Risk is similar. I have nearly come to blows playing Risk.
