The salmon are starting to die in the rivers so they gotta come soon but after 3 hours hunting eagles and this is all I got.

A Great Blue Heron shot from behind my windshield.

I had to sharpen it quite a bit hence all the noise.

Guy, I like it. I know jack about birds but I know I like this. Only wee criticism I have is that it looks slightly overexposed - feels like a notch or two -EV would help that heron really stand out.

It is past midnight so no excuse for not spotting the 'behind windshield' bit. As for noise, that really doesn't bother me - I like a bit of noise sometimes in pics.

I didn't have any time to set it up. I was scooting down the highway and saw it standing on a bridge deck railing of all places. I hammered on the brakes, pointed the camera in his direction and took the shot. Then I tried to inch forward to see if I could get a shot with the right side window open. Well I got the shot but it was his ass end cuz he was hightailing it outa dodge. With GBH's you rarely get much time to do anything because they spook so easy.

Given the circumstances, you did rather well then!

I hate noise with a passion.

Fair enough. I don't mind it in some types of shot as I feel it adds a raw film like quality, depending on the type of noise. Sometimes shots can look almost too clean. I could end up waffling - it's not easy to explain but ultimately just comes down to the shot and picture I guess.

Do you use anything like Noiseware?
