Had a storm today and water was dripping in through the kitchen ceiling and down the light bulb there. Just had an electrician out who has disconnected it until the council come and fix the roof so no light in the kitchen till then, whenever that is. Cooking dinner by lamplight is not fun.

No money for take away right now.:thumbdown Just keeping it simple, jacket potato and chilli con carne.

P.S. Hmmm, wonder what the American word or spelling for chilli and carne is, American spell checker reckons I'm spelling it wrong when I'm clearly not.

damn. a potato and chili sounds good to me though :)

Chili only has one "L" and carne is obviously Spanish.

I think it's the same.

Funny story. Years ago, my town's radio station used to announce the lunch that was being served at area schools for the day. Whenever chili con carne would come up, they would always say "Chili con carne with meat". :D

Yes it does sound good but my son doesn't eat it so I am stuck with Chicken again tonight..

You had me wondering so I looked at the cans I have and they are spelled Chili here.. Only one L..

when it comes to OUR language? ;)

We use UK English ( or the Queen's English ) here as well.. Humour not humor, Night not nite.. :D

I would tend to think Chilli would be more correct but I happen to have a can from that brand.. I guess I had a US version :ninja

Only illiterate or lazy people say "nite" instead of "night".

Night really is the proper spelling here.

I do like Canada very much :)

I think the mexican way is with a single "l", so technically, if you're going to be cosmpolitan about it, chili would be the best way to write it. However, the word has be naturalised as "chilli" in the English language.

I guess the question would be, do you say chili pepper with one L or chilli pepper with two Ls ?

Realistically the name is a Derivative from the pepper that made the sauce hot is it not ?
