I just wanted to see what everyone's opinion about memory improvement courses are. The reason I am asking because I want to take some of these courses to improve my memory in order to do better in school. I have read that memorization is a key to learning and in reply I would think that if I could improve my memory I would be able to make my school year a lot easier on me. So I have done some research and found a couple of sites. Like the School of Phenomenal Memory and Dr. Bruno's course. I don't know if anyone has any experiences with either these or any other memory improvement course but any help would be great. Thanks.

i totally believe that. i suck at smarts, but i have an all but photographic memory...i dont think you should waste your money on memory improvement courses though, those sound like scams to me. I think it's all in the method you use to study. For example, I can memorize 100 complex questions and answers to them in 1 night...what i do is make power point slides...1 slide is the question, the next is the answer. Typing them all out is the first step..you kind of already know them. Then you go through the entire set 5 or 6 times and you should have them memorized

hmm great tip Clare. yes having good memory would help you with grades, but classes i think would be a waste of time. smarts are measured by many things and memory is one aspect of it. sometimes even un educated people are smart. not by the info they know but just how theyre brain works and makes connections between thoughts. thats my honest opinion :)

My short term memory is not very good (older forum members obviously know why) but it has never affected my grades. Last term I got 3 A's, 1 B, and 1 C. The C was in math though, and I've sucked at math as long as i can remember.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I feel the reason I want to improve my memory is because I really don't have that much to lose, except for the cash of course. But if it helps me a lot and I am able to do better in school then I guess it would be a small price to pay. Currently I am still researching the websites so when I get some more definite facts I'll give you guys an update.
