Recently there have been quite a few good trilogies such as batman, and lord of the rings, but what about throughout history, have they all been good?

Some examples are back to the future, hangover, blade, which do you think is the best?

I don't think back to the future, the hangover or blade are really trilogies, but are nothing more than sequels. They were nothing more than movies created that made enough money that the studio's decided to milk it for all it's worth. I also think you can see the quality of all three movies you've mentioned deminish with each proceeding sequal.

Heck, I'd rate all 4 Terminator movies better than the last sequal of the movies you've mentioned.

This comment recalled me my local TV channel airing every weekend trilogies of four movies.

The world trilogy means a group of three related novels, plays, films, operas, or albums, hence if they have four movies scheduled, this is not a trilogy :D

And about the former question, no, I don't have any favorite trilogy. I see movies as they come and I rarely go with the second part of any movie, much less with the third, despite I may or may not watch them just to criticize.

No shite sherlock, and if you noticed, I said "four movies". Please give me enough credit to at least what "tri" means:D

My previous point (if it didn't get across) is the fact that just because a movie makes enough money to lure the studio into making more pictures up to a three count, I don't really consider a "trilogy" to begin with. Back to the future, Blade and the Hangover series I would lump into the previous comment.

I would also argue that Batman isn't a trilogy per the big screen, but segmented more inline with who the director was and who played the title character.

My favorite trilogies all with different genres are: Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future and Bourne! They are all very different but I love them all.

Tough one but for me, it’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Everything about it feels epic: the storytelling, the character arcs, the world-building, and that emotional punch in Return of the King. It’s one of the few trilogies where each film holds its own, yet together they build something massive and unforgettable.

That said, The Dark Knight trilogy and Back to the Future are close contenders.
