I should point out, in my recommendation of a Toyota Corolla, that I live in Georgia and very rarely deal w/ snow...so it might not be a good option for where you live, LOL
its not like Maine gets a huge amount...but then you hear of cars made for specific regions of the USA....

Well, let me put it this way. Last year in January we had a large amount of ice here. I forgot about a huge hill on my way home (down and back up) and got stuck in the bottom of the hill. So if you get more than ice/snow every 6 or 7 years, you might want to look into either another car or some chains (or whatever you folks w/ snow and shit put on your tires, LMFAO).

My sister drives a Corolla and deals with Canadian winters. It's done well for her.

Oh ice is easy... You just sit your wife on the hood with a bag of salt. And she throws it in front of the car as you drive along. It will get you through the tough spots...

Let me go look, I might have pics

find an old beetle
they are solid

Probably the worlds crappest car

The ford focus is rated higher in satisfaction and reliability than many other small cars. Just do a quick search to see how they rank among other manufacturers.
Just because there are things you don't like doesn't mean it isn't a great car.

I was talking from first hand experience, you can show me example after example of car experts wanking themself blind about it but I still found it a rather mediocre car.
