Anyone been to Louisiana? What did you think? Or you ever wanted to go? Why?

I want to know what people think of Louisiana.

No, the first time, we were looking for an apartment for my brother and went all over the city. It just seemed really dirty and dreary. The second time, we couldn't find any place to eat that hadn't been destroy by the hurricane and had a very pissed off 13 month old in the back seat.

Went to Mardi Gras right after Katrina. Not a good time to judge the city. Went for several fraternity formals after that and just for fun a couple times. I enjoy going. I have pretty much limited myself to the French Quarter, but haven't ever really felt unsafe or anything. It was filthy the first time I went, but it was Mardi Gras...

aw...poor new orleans

the french quarter is really disgusting, but the point is to be drunk enough to where you don't care.

and i used to love the neighborhoods by the museum and city park, they had an excellent french restaurant there - but no tourists ever made it to that labyrinth of a neighborhood.

i mean i am in philly and i think it is dirty too...

Loser? Girl I'm a Longhorn fan. We don't lose.
Hey I'm just happy you knew who Les Miles was.
Any gal that knows college football is cool in my book.

Boy, I lived on the LSU Campus for a whole year and that was enough for me. Them Tiger fan bitches is crazy. But the Tigers definitely have me spoiled for life. The Superbowl was putting me to sleep in comparison.

I've been almost as far as you can go in Texas without crossing over into Louisiana... does that count? ;)

Janie, my mom and I went to New Orleans in either 73 or 74 for 2 or three weeks. I've never forgotten it and want to one day go back.

We stayed at the Royal Orleans (I still have an ashtray) and I loved the French Quarter. I know it's probably changed a great deal since then but I've never forgotten the 'atmosphere' there. It enchanted me as a kid. All the history there.

My mom hired a really sweet woman cabbie to drive us around. I'll always remember the gold star she had on her front tooth. She took us around to places the locals went to We went somewhere near water and had great fresh seafood right off the boats. She was a great 'tour guide'.

I still have a dress that I got there. In one of the shops was a box full of these dresses made out of silk scarves sewn together. I got the Purple one since that was Donny Osmonds fav color ;) Tho, over the years it's gone from floor length to mid-thigh length as the scarves have gotten tattered along the way. But I tell you, 35 years and many, many washings later it is sooooo soft.

I loved exploring the grave yards there and the energy is something I took with me. Especially Marie Laveau.

Speaking of Madame Laveau, I have a bottle of VooDooLove perfume in my cupboard. Along w/Bourbon French & Kus Kus. Bourbon French Parfums being online has enabled me to still have a little piece of New Orleans w/me whenever I want :D Kus Kus reminds me of my mom as that is what she purchased from there. I'm glad they are still around.

Yep, one day I hope we make it there. I'd love to show PBBB. Even if it is more 'touristy' now. NOLA rocks!

NO! Texas is COMPLETELY different!

LOL - ok but seriously, there is a huge body of water separating South Louisiana and Texas. I don't claim North or central Louisiana - those baptists can all die and the rest of Louisiana wouldn't notice. Very similar to how we feel about Texas...

You guys wanna come for Mardi Gras, I will meet you there.

New Orleans is in Louisiana? Who knew?

Anyhow my answer is "I know nothing about Louisiana".

aw...that's a shame I guess...?
