OK I decided to see it today, and honestly...I loved it.
It really is very similar to Black Hawk Down...small unit in enemy territory...can't seem to get a break trying to make it out...wounded ones to carry/deal with. Way better than Independence Day, that movie doesn't deserve mention anywhere near this movie. The aliens are tougher than us, but not hopelessly so. Their tech is cool but kinda gritty like in District 9. And unlike Signs they came here for our water and not in spite of it. Aaron Eckhart is awesome in his role and the rest of the cast is solid...although I am getting tired of seeing Michelle Rodriguez play the same character in every movie she's in.
My wife and daughter also enjoyed it...worth the money :thumbup
If anyone sees it and doesnt like it I offer no refunds

He's saying that your statement implies that if you've seen one movie of a specific genre, then you've seen them all.
"Seen one romantic comedy, you've seen them all"
"Seen one military drama, you've seen them all"
"Seen one horror movie, you've seen them all"
