If you can find me an old school ad where there are two people talking/gossiping I'll switch it up. I was trying to look for one last night.

Can i give people a few suggestions?

1. Mess with the blending... Try adding a stroke line to make the text pop out more...
2. Trying messing with the bevel or maybe a gradient under blending options.

this should work both in Photoshop and GIMP though GIMPS options may be different.

I like Dana's most but agree with whoever it was who said about it being a woman on there. Not a big thing really but it would better if there was a man and a woman in there. It's just one of those subconcious things that if a noob male was confronted with that as a first impression of Otz, he might think it's more of a womans forum and not be inclined to look further.
