This is kind of just going to be a rant, because I'm really, really, really pissed off about it. This happened on Friday.
Necessary backstory: When I'm not on call, I spend a lot of time just doing maintenance and such at the hospital. I get three breaks: first break, lunch and then last break. My first break consists entirely of drinking one cup of green tea and reading the paper. During lunch, most of the staff sit on the couches to socialize while they eat. I spend my lunch at a table, because I organize while I eat; update my dayplanner, figure out if I need to be anywhere later, see what still needs to be done. Last break is generally spent on my phone while I have more tea, because I consult with my husband what should be done for dinner so that I can pick up anything he needs on my way home.
There are two older women who work in the hospital, and for some reason have decided they hate my guts. I'm transfering hospitals, and I'm flying out to Vancouver on Sunday, and I don't work Saturdays ever, so it was my last day at that hospital. The staff was absolutely fantastic and got me a bunch of stuff and threw me a little party. I got a card from the entire staff, but these two particular women (Cheryl and Maureen) didn't sign it.
So I didn't make a big deal out of it, but later I happened to be in the same room with Cheryl, so I asked her if, just as a keepsake kind of thing, she wanted to sign the card, since she obviously hadn't before. She looked at me and just kind of went, "No." So I didn't push it.
At lunch, Maureen decided to confront me. She says to me, "There's a reason I didn't sign that card."
I said, "okay."
She said, "It's a good reason."
I said, "I'm sure it is. If I did anything it was unintentional and I'm sorry."
She sighs. And then says, "Look. You just come in here like you own the place and ignore everyone. You think you're just better than us."
Honestly? I read the fucking paper. Anyone is welcome to talk to me!
I won't detail the whole thing, because she probably yammered for a good fifteen minutes in front of an entire room of surgeons and nurses and various tech staff. Regardless, I got a little bit pissed off because she picked on me for Leland. I kid you not, her exact words: "At least I'm not some yankee fuck who leaves his wife for another man."
So I just got up and walked out. Not only does she pick on me for being American (like I can help that!), but she insults my husband!
I do not go to work to be harrassed by some fucking bitch who works removals!
AAUHGGGH! I was just really incredibly pissed off. Thank fuck I'm only ever going to be in that hospital when I absolutely need to be.
Okay, I'm done. Feelin' a bit better now.
