AudioBooks - Yay or Nay?

What are your thoughs on audiobooks that you can download to your iPod/MP3 etc?

I don't like them as I like normal books better. I am an avid reader.

I have literally hundreds of them.

I listen to them at work and driving.

I am NOT a good reader at all. I love newspapers and magazines, but I have a mental block on books.

Maybe audiobooks would be interesting, I should give them a go

I love reading, I've got loads of books but I did download a few onto my ipod, mostly biographies and was able to listen to them while I was doing my housework, made ironing more interesting.

books in print will always be better because they stimulates the brain more, people will try to do other things while listening to a book on tape which would be distracting.

I only buy audio books that are biographies. I listen to them as I'm doing easy and repetitive tasks such as driving, cleaning, folding, or walking. Although audio books are useful and entertaining some times, books trump them any day.

I love those! I have one huge one on my iPod about WWII.

I love reeading as well. I'm reading a book called Executive Privilege by Phillip Margolin.

It's just not the same. There's something about holding a book, running your fingers over the pages, and the smell from old hardbacks that you just can't get from an audio recording!!!

I listen more books on these days than read them. Knitting or washing dishes is funnier when there is some book to listen.
