It can feel excessive, but it’s mostly market-driven. Athletes generate huge revenue through tickets, media rights, and sponsorships. A small number of people capture massive global attention, so pay reflects demand more than effort. The gap is what makes it uncomfortable.
I don't think they make too much money. To be in professional sports they need to be very talented at what they do and worked hard to get where they're at in life.
I really don't think they are making too much money though. Just to stay fit to have to make a lot of sacrifices and put their body through hell, and not to mention the fact that their teams or clubs are making money from them as well.
