because I don't know enough about the subject, and I don't have the time to study it on top of my current work load. Plus I just don't really care that much to prove something to you that you can easily just look up yourself.

And no, I will not agree to that, since agreeing to that disregards our understanding of the universe and biology as professionals know it. Do you seriously think tens of thousands of independent professionals would hold a scientific belief if it wasn't compatible with other scientific laws? The question isn't with the scientific community, it has to do with your lack of knowledge of the subject. Can I even venture a guess into thinking that you have ever even read a single book on evolution or....?

And I don't have a religion, atheism isn't a religion. See, these are the things you believe in that can't make me take you seriously. I know whatever I say you will disregard, because THIS QUESTION YOU ARE ASKING WILL LEAD BACK TO YOUR BELIEF IN GOD. I don't care how much you say this has nothing to do with god, because it does, and it will always go back to you filtering things through your religious state of mind.

:24:

You're right, I could look it up myself, as I have tons of reference material right here at my fingertips... out in the garage... in the closet behind me... and I think I even have something in the nightstand by my bed to tell you the truth. Like I told you before, I've been very deep into it. My dad and I attend seminars on it fairly regularly. I can't help but get a giggle when I hear you getting mad at me for not knowing enough about the topic, when I obviously know more about it than you. I would suggest to you that you should do a little more groundwork before you spout off about it much more. More specifically, before you go on the warpath against others. You should at least understand the theory before you stand on a limb away from the entire scientific community and pronounce it fact. ;)

You continue to bring God into the discussion, because you think it's the only reason I'm being so ... irrational? I told you I was willing to look at it strictly on your terms. You are unwilling to do so. You saying you can't take me seriously because I'm a Christian would be like me telling you I couldn't listen to anything you had to say about minorities because you were white. :p You're using it as an emergency escape hatch. which I'm officially going to let you use now. I've made my point here. Not all that I wanted to because it didn't go that far, but I think there is food for thought here. :D

Have a great night Ron. It's been great talking science with you!! :jk

I know enough to know that it has much evidence behind it to be credible, and I know the scientific community just doesn't accept things because they sound cool, they test, research and do independent analysis. At least I admit when I do not know something, but you can come in with the low blows all you want, I can come in with some if you want as well if you like?

its sort of funny that you talk about knowing a theory before talking about it....since you have little to no grasp of how biological evolution works, and your posts show it. Your DNA and RNA question wouldn't have even been a question if you did some research. THAT MUCH I do know.

I didn't say I couldn't take you serious because you are a Christian, I said I couldn't take you seriously when you say severely retarded things like "atheism is a quasi-religion". THAT is laughable if you sincerely believe that (and your Bush quote in your sig, I can't take anyone seriously who takes HIM seriously). You claim to know so much, but it seems when it comes to very simple things, you fall short. Who knows why that is, not my position to say why.

Intruder and AEF, please try to not be so uptight, you both rub the other one up the wrong way - if it carries on I think it's best for all, if I maybe close this thread.

You are both intelligent in certain fields ok, so leave it at that perhaps?

It's not nice for this to continue in more or less every thread you two post in. :)

How do you explain the creation of the cosmos? I've been loosely getting back into astronomy (Thanks a lot BadBoy@ :smiley24:), and as I read the scientific communities rational for the creation of the Universe, I'm struck more than ever with the absurdity of it.

The Big Bang theory is nice in a lot of ways, but it is scientifically impossible according to some of the more basic laws of thermodynamics.

Taking religion completely out of this question, how are you able to put your faith so soundly into something that if looked at with the scientific method legitimately would be discarded immediately as faulty theory?

as i understand it science is theory proven then unproven and rewritten again...even little stevey hawking has rewritten the theory 5 times.
i know you said to leave religion out of it but genesis seems to me to be a simple and primitive description of what we scientifically determine as the creation of the universe. and i like that:)

Yeah, sorry about that. I've been trying to keep it to a discussion of what we know vs don't, but I can't seem to. :(

I humbly submit to your authority. :)
