this area is part of what they call 'the tip'

you can see 2 buildings,on the left is the roof of the visitor center,on the right is the gravel workings,most of the pools are excavated gravel pits that have been turned over to the reserve

my question is.....why is this area called 'the tip'?

i'll take this....many years ago before the days of recycling brandon was a rubbish tip...when it was full it was filled in and turned over to nature
