Ok Tegan, I have one for you and it may seem simple at first... but trust me, it's a bastard of a problem.
Problem: Intel® PRO/Wirele
ss 2200BG network connection driver failure
Computer:
Compaq Presario X1000 (DS829AV) CTO Notebook PC
OS: Windows XP Home edition, service pack 2 (completely up to date)
What I Tried: logged in as Admin, First I tried to roll back the driver, but there was none to roll back to. I also tried a system restore, nothing. So I delete the hardware in the device manager then reinstalled the newest drivers. I still get
This device cannot start (code 10) and in the device manager shows the little yellow exclamation mark over the device. Thinking that the newest driver is probably corrupt, I download it again and give it another shot. Nothing.
Ok, my next move is to try and get an older version of the drivers... Nothing. I try every version I can find on Compaq's/HP's site and on Intel's site. Still nothing.
Next I physically remove the card from the laptop reboot and try installing the drivers before the device is installed. Still nothing.
This damn card is driving me up the wall. There are a lot of other people that are having the same issues with this card on their machines, just check all of the articles on the web about it. I know that the card that is in my machine is not the same as one that I would buy from Intel (the laptop companies sometimes use proprietary chips on them) but come on... this is crazy.
BTW, this is a friends computer and I'm trying to fix this problem for him. I wasn't working when I got it from him... a computer tech tried to fix his intermittent loss of signal and messed up the drivers.
