no.....

I buy whats cheapest usually...

Some things I only want particular brands...but thats because they're better...not because of their name.

I dont look down over my Fendi sun glasses at people in $5 petrol station ones:cool

I think it depends on what you are talking about. I believe the phrase "You get what you pay for" is true only to a point. I have never found Tommy Hilfiger clothing to be any better than somethings I could purchase at Walmart. This is true of a lot of "NAME BRAND" items. "A fool and his money are soon parted" is too true with some things. I have never bought a pair of shoes for less than $50 which were more comfortable than Rockports. I notice a huge difference in cheap sunglasses versus better quality. Sound systems, I have never heard an off brand as good as a quality brand.

Most of my stuff comes from Wal-Mart or Target. When I can, I do like nice things, but I would never in a million years rub it in someone else's face. If anything, it makes me feel uncomfortable to have when others don't, if that makes sense.

I don't know about an actual brand name affecting me. Certainly I feel much better if, say, I'm wearing a good quality shirt or something. I couldn't care less what brand it is though. As long as it's put together by children working 16 hour days for $1 in illegal sweatshops, I'm good.

I'm not a name brander except for VS lingerie. I don't check anybody else's underwear, though. As far as cars are concerned, as long as they move out of my way when I need to go someplace, I don't care what they drive. Nice homes and neighborhoods never get me in a twist, either. People work hard for what they have and if it's what they want and it makes them happy, I'm ALWAYS happy for them. :D :D :D

we all like good stuff but i get what i can afford ..also i believe that if you know what look good on .. you can make a cheap clothing to look great.. you can buy labels but of does not suit you can look bad no matter how much cost..

only is i get good lingerie especially bras as i have a problem ....been thin i need the band of the bra to be strong and not stretch and usually do with cheap bras..as i get the smallest size there if it does then it is too big and not fit well so i always check how good are there and i can find this in a better brands :D

I think the point of the article is that because of the marketing of specific brands we tend to feel what they want us to feel when we're wearing/using them.

Do I feel slightly more fabulous and sexy when I'm carrying a VS shopping bag full of goodies? Hell yes I do. Do I feel more tech savvy when I use my DROID? Absolutely.

But this is pretty normal. Just like you feel more professional in a suit vs. sweatpants and a t-shirt.

Not really about looking down on others so much as how you feel about yourself.

It's like a good cup of tea.

Would I feel like an average Joe Schmoe if I ever drank Tesco's Value Tea?

Yes, I would.

Do I feel like a pretentious Brit because I actually drink P.G. Tips?

Yes I do! :D

The fact I prefer PG Tips does things for my self image of being a proper Englishman. I wouldn't feel that were I to ever drink a lesser tea so yes, the brand does have an impact on what we think - depending on the product be it food, lifestyle, leisure etc etc.
